Pets OS Support

Answers to the things people ask most.

Install on Android

  1. On your Android phone, go to Get Pets OS and tap Download for Android.
  2. Open the downloaded file. If Android says installs from your browser are blocked, allow it in the screen it shows you, go back and tap Install.
  3. Open Pets OS and follow the setup.
  4. When Android asks for a default Home app, choose Pets OS.

Add to iPhone

  1. On your iPhone, open shouldbe.media/pets-os/app in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
  3. Open Pets OS from its new icon. It runs full screen and works offline.

iPhone only lets its own apps set alarms, use the torch and replace the Home Screen, so those stay with Apple’s apps.

Software Update

Open Settings › General › Software Update. Pets OS shows the new version, what’s in it and its size.

  • Tap Download and install. You can pause and resume, and if the connection drops it carries on where it stopped.
  • Pets OS checks every update is genuine and complete before installing it, and deletes anything that isn’t.
  • On Android, Android asks you to confirm the install. The first time, it also asks you to let Pets OS install updates.
  • If an install fails or you cancel it, the version you had stays, with all your data.
  • Update history shows each update and whether it finished.

Go back to your old Home Screen

Pets OS doesn’t erase Android. To switch back, open Android Settings › Apps › Default apps › Home app, and pick the one you had before. To remove Pets OS completely, uninstall it like any app.

Questions

Is Pets OS free?

Yes. There are no ads and no account to make.

Can I buy a Stephone or a Frientom?

Not yet. Both are design concepts by ShouldBe. You can use Pets OS for Stephone on your Android phone or iPhone today, and try Pets OS for Frientom as a preview on a computer.

Where is my data kept?

On your phone. Pip, your moods, notes, photos, Day Story and Time Capsules are stored on the device, and Clarice answers on the device. Weather and web searches you ask for use the internet.

Do calls and texts work?

On Android, yes: Pets OS uses your phone’s line once you allow it. Incoming texts still arrive in Android’s Messages app. On iPhone, calls and texts are handed to Apple’s Phone and Messages apps.

Android says the app could be harmful. Is it safe?

Android shows this for apps that don’t come from the Play Store. Pets OS is signed by ShouldBe, and Software Update checks that every update comes from ShouldBe before installing it.

How do I get help with something else?

Email verifiedshouldbe@gmail.com and say which phone you have and which version of Pets OS (it’s shown in Settings › General › Software Update).
